This 480 Acres is truly special. It has Crop, CRP, Grass, Timber and a creek. That can add up to a amazing deer habitat and hunting property in Kansas.
Peace on the Prairie is 6 miles north and 1 mile east of Smith Center which makes it really close to the geographic center of the lower 48 states. I don't know if this fact has anything to do with the quality of game that is on this land. I do know that the two bucks that ran out in front of me the other day as I was looking the property over were pretty special. There is ample habitat here for all the upland birds in crop, grass, trees, and water. Pheasant and turkey are numerous, and wait until you see the picture the pair of quail allowed me to capture. Awesome! I'm excited about this diverse piece of prairie.
The cropland hasn't had a chemical used on it in three years -- this is time enough to be classified 'organic'. No cattle have been in the pastures in at least that long so the prairie is rested and thriving with everything needed for quality hunting. A few little diversion dams on the fingers draining into the creek would most assuredly bring mallard, teal, and maybe a few wood ducks to frequent this great habitat.
